About
Africa contributes just 2-3% of global carbon emissions yet suffers the greatest impacts of climate change of any continent.
The Africa Climate Collaborative (ACC) is strengthening the continent’s response to the climate crisis by empowering the next generation of climate and sustainability leaders.
We’re working in partnership with the University of Cape Town, the University of Ghana, Makerere University, the Association of African Universities and the Mastercard Foundation, leveraging the unique strengths and expertise of each partner.

Tackling climate change from every angle
We’re contributing to climate resilience and sustainable economic growth across Africa through the following four pillars of work. University partners' activity under each pillar is distinct but complementary.
- Workforce development
- Climate innovation and entrepreneurship
- Research and innovation
- Networks, policy and learning
With COP32 taking place in Ethiopia in 2027, this is an important year for our Collaborative, with real opportunities for meaningful impact.
